About Auberge Restaurant Du Lac Retaud

I’m excited to introduce Auberge Restaurant Du Lac Retaud, a welcoming restaurant tucked away along Route du Lac Retaud 4 in the beautiful village of Les Diablerets, Switzerland. Set near the calm waters of the lake, this spot feels like a place you discover and immediately want to tell friends about. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it ideal for slow lunches, cozy dinners, or spontaneous stops after a mountain walk. The restaurant blends rustic charm with a comfortable dining setup, so you never feel rushed, yet everything feels thoughtfully arranged.

What really stands out at Auberge Restaurant Du Lac Retaud is how flexible the experience is. On warmer days, outdoor seating lets you enjoy fresh alpine air while sipping a drink and taking in the surroundings. If you prefer to stay inside, the dine-in area offers a warm, laid-back vibe that suits both casual meals and longer get-togethers. For those on the move, takeaway and delivery options make it easy to enjoy the food wherever your plans take you, which is always a bonus in a mountain destination.

The menu is built to please a wide range of tastes without overcomplicating things. You’ll find a solid selection of alcohol, beer, wine, and spirits, alongside well-made cocktails that feel just right for the setting. Coffee is available for easygoing afternoons, while vegetarian options ensure everyone at the table finds something satisfying. Everything works together to create a dining experience that feels approachable, social, and genuine, whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for another relaxed meal by the lake.

As someone sharing this place with you, I appreciate how the setting encourages conversation and lingering moments, especially when drinks arrive at an unhurried pace. The balance between simple comfort and thoughtful service makes each visit feel personal, whether you’re meeting locals, travelers, or just enjoying quiet time surrounded by nature.

If you are not in a hurry and want to enjoy a wonderful meal, this is the place to go! Excellent steak, natural and GMO free, we did the 1070 oz "ribeye" type of steak, it was superb. It came with salad, vegetables and a few different steak sauces. We then enjoyed a variety of desserts as well. The best dessert was the apricot and fruit baked special, it was SUPERB! Amazing views, friendly staff, great food, warm atmosphere, we visited from Florida, USA and certainly would recommend this location to anyone visiting! One bit of advice, the menu is in french and german, so be sure to use google or chat gpt to translate the menu when ordering!

Part of me wants to keep this place a secret, but the incredible staff deserves all the recognition. This is heaven on earth. Benoit, CC, Tom, Leah, and the entire team go above and beyond—not just with impeccable service, outstanding food, and expertly curated wine, but even with impromptu blues guitar sessions during breakfast that make the experience unforgettable. Located next to the stunning Lac Retaud, just a short walk from Glacier 3000 and a stone’s throw from Les Diablerets, this auberge defines secluded luxury—not in an over-the-top way with golden bathtubs, but in the kind of way that feels like something out of a movie. Whether summer or winter, the breathtaking views, crisp mountain air, and perfect tranquility make it one of the most magical places in the world. The exclusivity only adds to its charm—you can only reach it on foot (or by snowmobile!), and after an incredible meal, you can ski straight down. The cozy rooms complete the experience, with a silence so pure you sleep like a newborn. I've been lucky enough to visit multiple times, and on my latest trip with my 11-year-old nephew, he summed it up best: "I feel like a VIP." If you ever have the chance to experience this place, cherish it. It’s pure paradise.

Spent a lovely evening in the chalet with friends and cant wait to go back! We had the most delicious dinner (best soup I’ve ever had) with a beautiful view of the mountains and waterfall across the valley. The chateau is in the perfect location with hiking trails right outside the front door and Glacier 3000 down the street! Thank you to the staff for creating an unforgettable experience.

This place is special. The rooms are cosy, comfy, newly renovated and perfect for a few nights of mountain air and good hearty Swiss food. The entire team works so hard, and creates a wonderful stay, dinner and breakfast. There are 5 rooms, at night it’s feels like being alone on the Swiss alps. An easy going place, delicious food, and a very pro team. The place for dinner was fully booked! Thanks for such a wonderful time. Ps. Fishing and swimming is possible in the lake. The windows had screens so bugs weren’t an issue. In the room there were plenty of towels, a hair/body wash, tv, hair dryer, luggage rack. The bed was very comfy. Wifi as well.

My recent visit to this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked in, the pleasant and cozy atmosphere set the tone for a memorable dining experience. The interior exudes warmth and comfort, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed meal. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. They were always ready and quick to assist with requests, adding to the welcoming ambiance. Now, onto the highlight: the food. The dishes served here are incredibly delicious, but the trout deserves a special mention! It was, without a doubt, the best-cooked trout I have ever tasted. The flesh, which had a nice pinkish hue, suggested it might have been rainbow trout!? The flavors were exquisite, and what surprised me the most was how delectable the fish skin was. I typically don't eat fish skin, but this was the tastiest I’ve ever encountered, crispy and flavorful. For dessert, I tried the Pain Perdu caramel, which was another first for me. It was a perfect ending to the meal, matching the quality and taste of the main course. The dessert was rich and indulgent, yet balanced and delightful. To top off this wonderful experience, the restaurant offers a stunning view of Lac Retaud. As if planned by nature itself, a rainbow appeared over the lake, creating a picturesque and serene backdrop to an already perfect evening. In conclusion, whether you're a local or a visitor, this place is a must-visit for an unforgettable dining experience.
